Editor,

The Daily Journal has a real winner with its Student News column. Week after week, the teenagers are making your adult columnists look like amateurs.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Bacon. I also enjoy the Student News columns because it brings a change of pace to the “adult” world and provides insight into what the “kids” are “into” these days and for me, an indication on how their educational journeys have shaped them. It should be noted that perhaps there is less political discourse and associated nastiness because these students may not qualify to vote. Once they’re able, it’ll be interesting to see what topics they’ll address. Let’s hope they can learn from the current batch of so-called adults in the room and instead of using hatred or vitriol to further their points of view, they can lead the next generation into proper discourse via facts. I think we’d all welcome that.
