Editor,

In response to the op-ed June 24 by Jim Hartnett, he claims in his opening that the Israeli-Iran conflict was initiated by Israel. This is a total falsehood. Israel was attacked Oct. 7, 2023, by Iran’s militia Hamas. They were later joined by Iran’s Hezbollah militia in Lebanon and the Houthis of Yemen rocket attacks on Israel. So tell Jim to stop with the falsehoods. You would think one with so many paper certificates would be more factual. Israel was attacked by Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthis, who are supplied and funded by the supreme leader. That’s a fact only obtuse people would deny. I stopped reading his op-ed after his second sentence.

Many thanks for setting the record straight - Israel did not start the war. They only defended themselves against attacks from Iran’s proxies Hamas and Hezbollah who slaughtered 1,200 Israelis at a concert in Israel. The US and Israel have stuck a major blow against nuclear proliferation in general and against Iran for starting the war.
