Editor,

It’s great to read about the animal sanctuary approved for installation in Half Moon Bay by the Peninsula Humane Society (May 25 Daily Journal). A relief from depressing news, criticism and complaints.

Some of the homeless that I see are quite furry as well. Would they be welcomed there? We should have a voluntary or involuntary sanctuary for humans before we worry about animals.

Yep, let's totally fix all the other problems before we help the animals.

Westy - there was a recent cartoon of a man carrying the feces of his dog and extraterrestrials commenting on who of the two the smart creature was. Here we have mindless animal behavior resulting in hundreds of unwanted pets that are now being housed at our expense? Are we crazy?. Are the animals smarter indeed? I also believe that the chosen site was the former camp for incarcerated juveniles. Why not house mentally-disturbed homeless folks there in a very bucolic setting?

Oh thank goodness. This LTE is truly about our furry four-legged friends… Based on the headline, I thought this might be a letter regarding the “furry” Army officers wearing “pup” masks while in uniform. It’s no wonder military recruitment is failing… Meanwhile, best of luck to the animal sanctuary.
