The proponents of the express lanes claim that their goal is to promote carpooling, but they lost all credibility when they allow solo drivers to buy their way into the carpool lane (“Express lane expansion on way” in the May 13 edition of the Daily Journal).
If they convert the left lane, rather than create a new one, the traffic will slow even further. Most drivers will experience longer commutes. Since this project will be funded with taxpayer dollars, they are using our own money against us. Sounds like a raw deal to me.
