The fascist’s new clothes
Editor,
So Keith Olbermann has given us a genuinely useful Valentine’s Day gift — the truth. The MSNBC anchor dares to call it all exactly what it is — fascism. That’s when a nation merges the needs and wants of corporations with the power of a strong central government and leaves the population that pays the bills behind.
This has historically been done in the name of security and to protect the population from an internal or external threat, whether you burn down the Reichstag or by some other means. The occupant of the White House prefers to protect telecom companies to working out with Congress a useful FISA bill. We all forget that he’s already publicly admitted to ignoring that law. Instead of a rising up of Congress to demand impeachment, they are sleepwalking us into the corporate state abetted by the entire Republican Party and far too many Democrats.
Yet we still have hero patriots like Mark Klein, the phone technician who is willing to rat them out and tell America the fix is in. The Emperor has been running around naked since 2000 and far too few of us are willing to admit the obvious.

Not very neighborly
Editor,
It seems to me that if there is any need to employ serious security forces between Israel and the Palestinians to actually protect either side, there is something wrong with this picture. You only need forces between parties at war, not parties at peace.
If Israel and the Palestinians are at war, then they should have a real peace agreement before a Palestinian state is created. Indeed that was the assumption of the 1993 Oslo Accords, the "Roadmap,” and every other attempt to stop this conflict by means of negotiation.
Why on earth would any sane person want a state to be created on their doorstep if it is going to be at war with them?
Unfortunately that’s exactly what happened when Israel withdrew unilaterally from Gaza.
The Gazans democratically elected a government that throws people off buildings if they disagree with them, and fires rockets at Israeli civilians indiscriminately.
Not very neighborly, is it?

Only solution to peace in Palestine
Editor,
I must respond to Gil Stein’s letter, "Hamas is a democratically-elected terrorist organization.”
I would suggest to Mr. Stein, and all other readers of the Daily Journal, to Google "Zionist Terrorism,” and you will have a wealth of information on how the use of terrorism by several Zionist organizations were used to create the state of Israel.
If the mainstream American media gave the people of the United States all the information regarding the creation of Israel, most Americans would say, "stop funding Israel now.” The atrocities committed by the Zionist terrorists, not only to the Palestinians, but to the Jews, Egyptians and other Semitic people, makes the firing of homemade rockets by the Palestinian anti-occupation forces at the Israeli occupiers, almost laughable.
The only way to find peace in Palestine is to end the Israeli occupation, stop all aid to Israel and send in the United Nations to keep the peace as they have done in Lebanon. But after reading how ruthless and murderous the Zionist terrorists were, and are, I would suggest moving the wall to the 1967 border, (that’s more than enough stolen Palestinian land for them), and warn the United Nation troops not turn their backs on the Israelis.
And, I say again, America owes Palestine a form of aid comparable to the Marshall Plan to compensate for years of supporting the illegal Israeli occupation.
