The Pope and the Catholic Church seem a bit confused about condoms. Pope Benedict XVI has recently "clarified" the church's position -- well, some of the church's position -- on the proper use of condoms. They are alright to use, apparently, for male prostitutes to protect themselves and their male customers from AIDS. They are definitely not permitted to be used by heterosexual males for the prevention of AIDS. This position of a preference shown for male prostitutes and their customers is a bit puzzling, say some church members.
There seems to be much confusion among the faithful. Take for example, if you are a male bisexual, is it alright for you to have sex with a male prostitute if that male prostitute wears a condom? How about with a female prostitute? Or with one's wife? It's very confusing. Perhaps there will be further clarification from the church soon, for those of us that are striving to avoid spending eternity in hell, but are still hoping for a bit of heaven before we leave these earthly bounds.
