Sylvia (Sue) Rodriguez (81) passed away on December 15th, 2018 peacefully at home. She was the wife of Edward Rodriguez, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in 1937 in Oakland, CA to Luella and Charles Schleifer, Sue attended San Francisco State University. She met her husband as a chaperone for her younger sister Dorothy. They married in 1958.
Sue was an avid traveler. During her life she traveled to over 100 countries, earning her membership to the exclusive Century Club. Sue also enjoyed many years as a docent at the Filoli Estate in Woodside.
Sue often traveled with her 3 daughters and their husbands, and also enjoyed spending time with her 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, in whom she instilled a love of travel and learning. Her family remembers her as an inspirational mother and grandmother, a formidable opponent in any card game, and a woman of sharp wit, unflappable demeanor, wise and loving words, and infectious laughter.
Sue is survived by her husband, Edward Rodriguez, sister Dorothy Semke, daughters Laura (Dan) Ringer, Christine (Matthew) Kuckuk and Linda (Michael) Kautzky, eight grandchildren, Robert, Beth (Jackson), Rachel (Craig), Meghan, Jennifer, David, Jenna, and Carina, and four great-grandchildren Landen, Emily, Breck and Corbin.
