It is with deep sorrow that the family of Renée Marie Ocafrain announces her passing surrounded by her loving family, April 6, 2026, at the age of 87 in San Carlos, California.Born on June 27, 1938 in Ahaxe (Basque Region), France.She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, soon to be great-grandmother, cherished member of her Baque and church community. A lover of the Basque region, and their local traditions, love of dance and music, Renée spent her life caring for her family and maintaining the traditions of her ancestors.Known for her infectious smile and affection, and deep devotion to her family and home, she brought warmth to all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gratien Ocafrain; parents, Pierre and Marie Jaureguito; siblings Denise Bach and Noel Jaureguito and many loved family members and friends in France and in the U.S.
Renée is survived by her daughters, Anita, Chantal and Sylvie, son-in-law Richard, her adored grandchildren, Yasmine, Ryan and Daniel, and their spouses Nazih, Thanh-Ha, Melissa, and siblings Marie, Jeanine, Christiane, and Dominique and many extended family members and friends throughout France and the U.S.
A traditional funeral service will be held on April 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., St. Pius Church in Redwood City, CA. and she will be interned in Gratien’s family plot in Banca, France.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to charitable organizations supporting the medical research for Dementia.
