O’Neill Joseph Printy, born Feb. 24, 1932, died peacefully at home of natural causes early Sunday morning, July 8, 2018.
A loyal and supportive husband and father and a successful businessman, O’Neill was known by friends, family and colleagues for his generosity, honesty and sense of humor. His readiness with an encouraging word, kind comment or playful joke will be missed by all who knew him.
O’Neill was born in St. Louis. He graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1956. He worked for Swift and Co. in international marketing in Chicago, Hamburg and South San Francisco until 1971. From 1971 until his retirement in 1996, he owned a Sizzler franchise which, at its peak grew, to 10 restaurants in the San Jose area.
O’Neill is survived by his wife Joan, his sons David and Michael, his daughters-in-law Chong Kim and Katherine Kuenzli, and his grandchildren Fiona, Jacqueline, Oliver and Nora.
From a large Irish Catholic family, O’Neill is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Ana-Mae Printy, and his seven siblings: John, Miriam (Marlowe), Ann (Dedinsky), Lou, Charlotte (Kestermeier), Patricia and Elizabeth (Walsh).
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. July 27 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, San Mateo.
