Julian V. Venturi, known lovingly by his family as “Papa Jul,” passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026, in Millbrae, California, surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old.
Julian was born on May 30, 1935, in San Francisco, California to Adelmo G. Venturi and Emma E. Venturi. He grew up alongside his sister, Thelma, in South San Francisco. He attended South San Francisco High School, where he played football as a tight end, and he worked as a caddy at the California Golf Club during his high school years where he developed his passion for golf, and he graduated in 1953. Always eager to work with his hands, Julian went on to graduate from Heald’s Engineering College in 1954. After working for the airlines and PG&E for a short time he started work for General Electric Company and finally landed his dream job as a Major Appliance Trainer for Northern California and Hawaii. He worked for the company for over 45 years.
In July of 1957, Julian married the love of his life, Sandy Del Chiaro. They started a family right away, welcoming daughter Julie in April of 1958 and a son Michael in January of 1962. Life was good.
Tragically, Sandy became ill in 1966 and battled the devastating disease, Lupus, until her passing on November 24, 1970.
Fortunately, Julian was blessed to find love again with Margery Blundell, and in 1990 together they blended their families and built a beautiful life together for 35 years.
Julian was a calm, loving, gentle man who adored his family more than anything else. He was an avid golfer and a proud member of the SSF Duffers and the San Mateo Poplar Creek Men’s Club. He was also an active member of the SIRS, Chapter 1 San Mateo. A lifelong Bay Area sports fan, Julian cheered passionately for the San Francisco 49ers, the San Francisco Giants, and the Golden State Warriors. He loved tinkering in his workshop, where his handiness and woodworking skills were on full display. Julian also treasured traveling, with trips to Italy, England, Scotland, and Alaska among his favorite adventures. And those who knew him well knew he would never turn down a good Brandy Manhattan!
Julian was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandy Del Chiaro Venturi; his parents, Adelmo, and Emma Venturi; his sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and John Panattoni; and his stepdaughter, Karen (Jack) Boland.
Julian is survived by his beloved wife, Margery Blundell Venturi; His Daughter, Julie S. (Rocky) Allen, son Michael W. (Julie) Venturi, His stepdaughter Debbi L. (Mark) Robards, and stepsons; Joseph “Chip” M. (Kristi) Blundell, and David Shawn Blundell. Julian is also survived by nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
May Julian rest gently in God’s loving embrace.
A memorial service will be held on June 12, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Chapel of the Highlands in Millbrae, California.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Lupus Foundation of Northern California, the American Heart Association, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in honor of Julian’s memory.
