Josefina “Josie” Pena Yee, 89, of South San Francisco, CA, passed away surrounded by loved ones on April 8, 2025.
Josie was born on November 8, 1935 in Tiwi, Albay in the Philippines, to Nieves and Jose Pena. She was known for her amazing bedside manner to her Pediatric patients at both Mills and Peninsula Hospitals, where she was a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. Josie was extremely devoted to her faith and was very involved with her parish, St. Robert’s Catholic Church in San Bruno; where she was the Secretary and President of the Legion of Mary, and also a Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion to the sick and homebound.
When she wasn’t playing mahjong with friends, she was dancing, shopping with her sisters, traveling and enjoying great food; laughing, reminiscing and spending time with her grandchildren - grateful for making new memories.
Josie is survived by her only daughter, Jennifer Yee Adams, her son-in-law, Spencer Adams, grandson Jake Adams, granddaughter Holland Adams, sisters Zenaida Pena Brion and Estella Pena Cerdinio. Her warm smile, sweet demeanor and big heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation on Thursday April 24 from 4 - 6:00 p.m. with vigil at 6:00 p.m. at CHAPEL OF THE HIGHLANDS. Funeral Mass on Friday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Robert’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude’s in Josie Yee’s memory.
