California lawmakers have been busy over the last decade trying to make it easier to build homes across a housing-strapped state. But there’s an 840-milelong exception.

In an undulating band that generally runs 1,000 yards from the shoreline, the 12 members of the California Coastal Commission have the final say over what gets built, where and how.

Not So Common

Wiener is offended by his own thoughts and interpretation of the coastal law. He feels it's to protect white rich people, which flat out wrong. The law in place is to protect the coast and has nothing to do with wealth or the color of someone's skin.

Yosemite Says

I agree. Weiner has been a steady enemy of environmental law dating back to his unhelpful terms on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He views democracy as the biggest threat to his and his sponsors' agenda. Our other state senators should show more spine when confronted by his class warfare based deceptiveness.
