The driver whose passenger died during a wrong way police chase on Interstate 280 last month but is now facing second-degree murder charges.
Joseph Boldt, 20, appeared in court Monday but asked for another week before entering a plea to allow time for conferring with his court-appointed attorney. Police initially arrested Boldt on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, felony driving under the influence, wrong way driving and possession of drug paraphernalia. But after reviewing the case, the District Attorney's Office has added the felony second-degree murder charge in the death of Boldt's passenger.
