A woman involved with a collision with a San Mateo County Transit District bus in Pacifica earlier this month has died in the hospital, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said.
On the afternoon of Jan. 8, first responders arrived at the intersection of Fassler Avenue and state Highway 1 on a report of a collision.
Investigators believe that the 75-year-old woman was driving her SUV when she rear-ended a SamTrans bus. At the time, the woman was alert and had injuries considered minor. She was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital for further medical evaluation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
On Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office was informed that the woman died the day before.
“At this time, it is unknown if the death was directly connected to any injuries sustained from the collision,” a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office said.
The San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The woman’s identity is being withheld at this time.
