An eighth-grade teacher at Parkway Heights Middle School has been charged with 12 counts of sexual assault on a child, San Mateo County Deputy Chief District Attorney Shin-Mee Chang said.
The teacher, 36-year-old Ahmad Rafah, has been placed on administrative leave by the South San Francisco United School District, according to a May 22 press release from the South San Francisco Police Department.
Rafah, a San Francisco resident, remains in custody on no bail and will be arraigned May 29.
SFPD initiated an investigation May 2 after receiving information that the teacher was engaged in inappropriate behavior with juvenile students, the press release said.
Rafah was subsequently arrested May 22 and charged May 23 with allegedly sexually assaulting multiple children.
