Five parking spaces in downtown San Mateo transit center will be converted for electric vehicle chargers this summer, the city announced Wednesday.
The chargers will be installed at no cost to the city through a partnership with NRG eVgo. The chargers will be level 2 and two DC Fast Chargers that can charge a car in 30 minutes or less. San Mateo will be the first city in Northern California to install such a charging station on public property. The company plans to expand its network throughout California and the United States, according to the city.
