More than four months after Jay Walter retired as San Carlos’ Public Works Director, city officials announced Thursday Steven Machida, San Mateo’s deputy Public Works director, will fill the position Walter left open as of Monday.
Having worked at Milpitas, Lathrop and Morgan Hill as well as a private consultant, Machida brings more than 32 years of experience in public works projects to his new post, according to the city.
“I am truly honored to be selected as the Public Works director for the city of San Carlos,” said Machida in a city press release. “This is my dream job and it is a privilege to serve this wonderful community and its residents and I am ready to get to work.”
The annual salary range for San Carlos’ Public Works director position is $182,284 to $221,571, according to the city’s 2017-18 salary schedule.
