The San Carlos City Council is holding a special meeting tonight after a lengthy hearing last Monday left a handful of unfinished business.
The council worked past its 10 p.m. curfew last week but still was unable to complete everything on its agenda. Tonight, the panel is scheduled to adopt a new code of ethics for all councilmembers and appointed officials before turning its attention to the free SCOOT shuttle bus system.
The shuttle system, operated by Standard Parking, began as a pilot program and a funding task force will brainstorm ways to make the service a permanent part of San Carlos. Tonight, the council is considering new contracts for the program's operations and bus leases.
In the past, the City Council would continue its meeting until every item was considered. Earlier this year, though, the council unanimously agreed to a cut-off time to prevent meetings from continuing into the wee hours. After hours were spent debating affordable housing units and personal e-mails by Councilman Matt Grocott, the council agreed to extend the meeting. Even an extra couple of hours were not enough, leaving the council to reconvene tonight.
