A man who entered Crocker School in September and was later linked to a series of credit card frauds has been arrested, Hillsborough police said Tuesday.
Police said officers were dispatched to the school around 1:37 p.m. on Sept. 16 after staff reported an unfamiliar person on campus. The man told staff he was at the wrong school and left the area, walking toward Ralston Avenue near Chateau Drive.
Following the incident, investigators learned a staff member's credit card had been used fraudulently at several businesses.
Surveillance footage from those transactions matched the person seen at the school, police said. The suspect was identified after the investigation.
On Nov. 3, officers from the Fremont Police Department arrested the unnamed suspect.
The case has been forwarded to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office for review of potential charges, including second-degree burglary, theft, and unlawful use of access card information, authorities noted.
The suspect remains in custody in connection with this case and other outstanding matters, according to the Hillsborough Police Department.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hillsborough Police Department at (650) 375-7470.
