A man accused of trying to steal a catalytic converter in Belmont has been apprehended, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office said.
The incident occurred on Davey Glen Road at 4 p.m. Oct. 29, when police caught Jose Carrillo Ramirez, 53, of Oakland, allegedly walking away with a cut catalytic converter, the DA’s Office said.
Ramirez was seen by police walking away from a white van with cutting tools and a catalytic converter, the DA’s Office said.
Ramirez was stopped after a police chase and allegedly admitted the theft, the DA’s Office said. His next court date is Nov. 10.
