A San Mateo man was arrested Wednesday around 3 p.m. after police recovered firearms, ammunition, and a stun gun from his residence, all of which were illegal for him to possess as a convicted felon, authorities said.
Robert Torres, 63, was taken into custody after San Mateo police served a search warrant at his home in the 800 block of N. El Camino Real, according to the San Mateo Police Department.
The investigation began May 11, when officers received reports that firearms were visible in the window of Torres’s residence, officers said.
Police said the weapons likely did not belong to him.
During the search, officers seized three firearms, ammunition, and a stun gun. Torres was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
He faces firearms-related offenses, including possession of a firearm with prior offenses, felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited person in possession of ammunition, and felon in possession of a stun gun.
