A new dental clinic improving access to dental care for residents who are uninsured or underinsured opened in Redwood City through a collaboration of the Ravenswood Family Health Network and the Sequoia Healthcare District.
The 5,186-square-foot facility has 11 dental chairs and can support five dentists to provide general dentistry services and pediatric dentistry, according to a press release.
Located at 525 Veterans Blvd., the clinic can begin treating patients by the end of March.
“Oral health is essential to overall health,” Gralyn Jacques, Ravenswood Health Network CEO, said in the release.
Providing pediatric dental care means supporting children’s oral health “from an early age, to prevent long-term complications,” the release said. Families can join the Health Plan of San Mateo, or the local Medi-Cal program, by enrolling on-site.
“By increasing our capacity, enhancing accessibility, and creating a welcoming environment for families and children, we are addressing a critical need and investing in the long-term well-being of our patients,” Jacques said.

The new clinic is the sixth site operated by the Ravenswood Family Health Network. The opening “underscores our deep commitment to expanding access to quality health care for our community,” Jacques said.
It is expected to reach as many as 2,000 individuals within its first year of opening.
The $6.5 million facility was largely funded with $6 million by the Sequoia Healthcare District.
Access to dental care is a critical component of community health, Sequoia Healthcare District CEO Pamela Kurtzman said in the release.
“We are proud to invest in this important facility because this partnership reflects our mission to ensure that everyone in our district has access to the care they need, regardless of income or circumstance,” Kurtzman said.
