A Hillsborough police officer was shot by a suspect who had entered the rear lot of the police building Saturday, officials said.
The officer was taken to a hospital and was expected to make a full recovery, police said on social media about 7:30 p.m.
There was no update on whether a suspect remained at large, as police had said on social media about 6 p.m.
The Hillsborough Police Department is located with the Town Hall at 1600 Floribunda Ave.
Police in neighboring Burlingame issued a shelter-in-place advisory for residents in the area of Floribunda and El Camino Real on social media.
The advisory asked residents to stay indoors and lock all doors and windows.
There was a large law enforcement presence in the area, police said. The San Mateo County Sheriff''s Office was assisting in the investigation, a spokeswoman said.
