Hillsdale 5, Woodside 2
The Knights opened PAL Bay Division play with the win over the Wildcats.
Hillsdale (1-0 PAL Bay, 4-4) took control with three runs in the top of the third and two more in the fifth.
Madelyn Peña had the big hit for the Knights, a bases-clearing, three-run single in the third. Lola Jones added an RBI and also got the win in the circle, giving up two runs on seven hits in three innings of work. Peña and Sophia Lebron closed out the game.
Angelina Aranda homered and Caroline Ong doubled, with each driving in a run, for Woodside.
Notre Dame-SJ 12, Sequoia 7
The Regents scored six runs in the first inning and cruised to the PAL Ocean Division victory in the PAL Ocean Division opener for both.
Kiera Watson drove in three runs for NDSJ (1-0 PAL Ocean, 6-6 overall), while three others had two RBIs apiece.
Sequoia (0-1, 2-4) got two hits and two RBIs from Jamie Elkington.
Baseball
Valley Christian 3, Serra 2
The Warriors handed the Padres a gut-punch loss, walking them off to hand Serra its second straight WCAL loss.
Valley (2-1 WCAL, 7-4 overall) scored single runs in the second and third innings. Serra, meanwhile, was shut out until scoring twice in the top of the seventh to tie, only to see the Warriors win it in the bottom of the seventh.
Jayce Peavey had two hits and RBI, with Aaron Minton also driving in a run for Serra. Riley Lim got the start for the Padres and worked into the third inning, allowing two runs on three hits. Michael Ohman and Antonio Sekelj then pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless ball to keep the Padres in the game, before the Warriors beat Kelley Crawford.
Design Tech 3, More 1
After a tough non-league schedule, the Dragons have won their first two PSAL games.
Design Tech (2-0 PSAL, 3-5-1 overall) scored twice in the third and added one more in the fifth. Aidan Tom has the big hit for the Dragons, a two-run homer in the third. Diego Carrasco drove in the third run for D Tech.
That made a winner of Branden Hom, who got the start and worked five innings, allowing just four hits and an unearned run. Camren Tom got the save with two innings of scoreless relief.

Aragon 9, Woodside 8
The Dons scored three times in the top of the seventh to beat the Wildcats.
Woodside (0-1 PAL Ocean, 6-3 overall) seemed well on its way to the win after a five-run fifth gave the Wildcats a 8-3 lead.
But Aragon (1-0, 6-3) scored three in the sixth and three more in the seventh for the win.
Sean Tam had a monster game for the Dons, going 3 for 4 with a homer, double and six RBIs.
Half Moon Bay 6, Mills 3
The Cougars scored three runs in their final two at-bats to snap a 3-all tie and beat the Vikings.
HMB (2-1 PAL Ocean, 5-5 overall) scored three runs in the top of the second, but Mills (0-1, 3-4) tied it with two runs in the bottom of the third and one more in the fourth.
But the Cougars took the lead with a run in the sixth and then tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh.
Tino Janke and Ethan Wong each had an RBI for Mills.
Sacred Heart Prep 9, South City 1
The Gators topped the Warriors in a PAL Ocean Division meeting.
SHP (2-1 PAL Ocean, 7-4 overall) took control early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the second before adding four more in the fifth.
Seven Gators had an RBI, with Nico Pollioni having a four-hit day with a run driven in. Rallin Covey got the win, working five innings, giving up one run on five hits.

Harker (3-0 PAL Lake, 6-4 overall) overwhelmed Westmoor (0-2, 3-3), 16-1.
Priory (3-2 PAL Lake, 6-2 overall) blasted Jefferson (0-4, 1-7), 20-5.
El Camino (4-0 PAL Lake, 8-2 overall) cruised past Crystal (1-3, 1-5-1), 13-7.
Summit Shasta (3-0 PSAL, 3-4 overall) beat sister school Summit Tahoma (0-2, 0-4), 14-3.
