• Redwood City is asking for public input on proposed revisions to the sign ordinance before the City Council approves the changes, anticipated to happen in February. The draft sign ordinance addresses both permanent and temporary signage on both private and public property.
The workshop is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9 at City Hall, 10017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City.

• Redwood City is preparing the draft environmental impact review for the what is now known as the East Bayshore Auto Dealership Project on the 14-acre Century 12 site at 557 East Bayshore Road. City officials want suggestions about what the document should include, such as potential impacts like traffic, air quality and noise.

The final date for receiving comments is Jan. 22 and the draft EIR is scheduled for release in spring.
• San Carlos offices will be closed between Dec. 25 to Jan. 1 to help ease the city’s current general fund budget deficit. The closures include City Hall, the senior center, the youth center and the Laureola Park activity building. Emergency services such as police, fire, sewer and road repair will be available but the police department and public works administrative offices will be closed. Specific departments shut down include: building and inspections; city clerk and passports; community development; planning; parks and recreation programs; public works and engineering; administrative services.
