• The San Mateo Planning Commission held a study session Tuesday night for a preliminary review of a proposal to construct 114-120 residential housing units at 2000 S. Delaware St., the site of the city’s former police station.
The commission expressed overall support of the project but had questions about access, circulation, traffic, sidewalk widths and other design issues, according to Associate Planner Darcy Forsell. Another subject of questions is the proposed separation of types of housing units between two towers. The developer is proposing moderate income units be in one tower, while below-market units be in another tower. The concept is not necessarily in line with the city’s below-market rate program which seeks no separation of units by income level, however the developer explained it was necessary to plan it that way because of financing, Forsell said.
The proposal will return to the Planning Commission for a public hearing, with final approval and development agreement to be voted on by the City Council. The city owns the land and will likely approve a long-term lease.
 • The City of Foster City is beginning the process of developing its budget for Fiscal Year 2010-11. The budget is scheduled to be adopted by the City Council at its meeting on Monday, June 21, prior to the start of the fiscal year on July 1, 2010.
As part of the budget development process, the City Council is holding a series of meetings that the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
All of the meetings listed below will be held in the Council Chambers, 620 Foster City Blvd. (immediately adjacent to City Hall) and will be televised on FCTV, Comcast Channel 27 and AT&T Channel 99.
