A kitchen fire that erupted in a Daly City home Friday evening caused major interior damage but left all residents and firefighters unharmed, firefighters said.
The blaze was reported at 5:09 p.m. at a single-story row house on Wavecrest Drive, according to the North County Fire Authority.
Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a kitchen window. Firefighters made a rapid interior attack, quickly knocking down the fire and conducting a primary search, a press release issued Friday noted.
No residents were found inside the home, and family pets located in the backyard were unharmed, firefighters said.
The fire caused extensive damage inside the house, mostly in the kitchen, officials said.
Crews remained on scene for about three hours to check for extension and complete overhaul operations. Three displaced family members received assistance from the Red Cross.
Investigators determined the fire was accidental and caused by an electric stove left on.
