College Park Elementary School will host its quarterly electives night on Tuesday, March 21.
Every quarter during the school year, students at the kindergarten through fifth grade magnet school choose academically-based elective courses. Elective classes take place at the end of the day. On elective night, the students get to show-off what they learned and accomplished to their parents, peers and visiting community members. The classes offered vary each quarter.
Electives night will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday March 21, at College Park Elementary, 715 Indian Ave., San Mateo.

Burlingame High School will be performing "Cinderella” from March 24 through April 2. The production features senior leads Annie Nelson, Sara Lang and Lia Peros, with Laura Paley as Cinderella and Alex Arabian as the Prince. Performances are March 24, 25, 31, and April 1 at 8 and March 26 and April 2 at 2. All performances are in the Mills High School Theatre, 400 Murchison Drive, Millbrae. Skyline College will honor inductees into the "Skyline Stars: Transfer Hall of Fame” on Monday, March 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Gallery Theater, 3300 College Drive, San Bruno. The honorees completed coursework at Skyline College, and then transferred to a four-year college or university and went on to achieve exceptional educational or career success.
Those who will be honored in the second annual induction event are: journalist Mark Simon, attorney Dolores Victor, researcher Gracie Hough, children’s onocology nurse Violeta Borjas, researcher Vu Tran and Skyline faculty members Helen Zhang and Andy Davis.

The Skyline College Career Center will host its annual Career Expo 2006 Wednesday, April 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than 35 local Bay Area employer representatives participate in the event with information on current employment opportunities. The expo will be held at the Skyline College, building 2, 3300 College Drive, San Bruno.

Applications for the $1,500 San Carlos Kiwanis Club scholarships are now available online. These scholarships are available to San Carlos residents who are graduating from high school and planning to enroll full time this fall in a college or university.
The Harlan Veal scholarship will be presented to a student pursuing a career in administration of justice, law or a related field. The Henry Nissen scholarship is presented annually to a student who demonstrates leadership and strong community service commitment, emulating Kiwanis values. Outstanding achievement scholarships will be awarded to students that have demonstrated outstanding achievement through their community leadership. Applications are available at www.sancarloskiwanis.org and must be postmarked by April 14.

Eight students in the Sequoia Union High School District were announced as National Merit Finalists.
In order to be named as semifinalists, the students had to score in the top one-half of the one percent of all students taking the preliminary SAT test during their junior year.
The National Merit Finalists from Carlmont High School are Crysal Mao, Caitlin Roake, Ariel Sarver and Sonia Singhal. The finalists from Menlo-Atherton High School are Daniel Kadvany, Katherine Merk, Salla Rapakko and Allan Stewart.
