A traffic collision of David and Golliath proportions involving a big rig and a Hyundai stalled traffic for two hours Monday morning on Highway 92.
At approximately 8:15 a.m., the big rig was forced to jack knife to avoid completely colliding with the Hyundai. In doing so, the driver managed to minimize the injuries to both parties.
The driver could not, however, avoid the puncturing of two side saddle diesel fuel storage tanks on the big rig. The fuel proceded to leak onto the San Mateo Bridge.
Caltrans later arrived on the scene and began soaking up the leaked fuel. Two eastbound lanes of traffic were closed until approximately 10:30 a.m.
The CHP advised all commuters traveling this morning to use alternate roads, as the San Mateo Bridge was closed for two hours.
The drivers of both vehicles sustained minor injuries, and the accident is still under investigation.
