A Palo Alto man who was riding in a car Friday when a bicyclist apparently fired through the car window and killed him is identified as Christopher Wayne Guillory, 42, according to the San Mateo County Coroner's Office.
A woman in the car was also injured as the victims drove in East Palo Alto, police said.
Around 6:50 p.m., officers at an East Palo Alto police station heard a car horn blaring urgently and found it alongside the University Avenue police station.
Officers discovered the female driver and her male front-seat passenger suffering from gunshot wounds. A woman in the back seat was not injured.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the 32-year-old female driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The driver and back seat passenger, a 27-year-old San Mateo woman, told officers that a man on a bicycle started shooting at them as they drove past two men on bikes on Palo Verde Avenue at Bay Road.
The women did not know why the man on the bike began shooting at them except that they had come close to colliding with one of the bicyclists, according to investigators. No suspect descriptions were released.
