The body of a second plane crash victim was recovered off the coast of Half Moon Bay Jan. 24, near where the fatal crash occurred Jan. 15.
The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office identified the decedent as 26-year-old Cassidy Petit, who was identified as one of the four victims of the crash in an online obituary. Petit’s body was found near Ross Cove in Moss Beach, and was identified through fingerprint comparison, according to the Coroner’s Office.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the crash killed four people, who were flying in a home-built single-engine Cozy Mark IV plane, The Associated Press reported.
The body of Emma Willmer-Shiles was recovered off the coast Jan. 15, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. In a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle, a Bay Area family identified their son, Isaac Zimmern, as one of the individuals on the plane and Willmer-Shiles as his long-term partner.
The fourth person on the plane was Lochie Ferrier, identified in the obituary as Petit’s fiancé and a pilot. The two planned to be married in Hawaii Jan. 28, the obituary said.
The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.
