A 28-year-old San Mateo resident has been charged with 19 felonies — one for attempted stalking and 18 for illegal weapons and ammunition possession, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
The man, Leqiang Wang, had allegedly been stalking a San Francisco woman who worked at his company for months — completely unbeknownst to her, Wagstaffe said.
Wang’s stalking and threatening behavior — which allegedly included taking photos of the victim since October 2024, recording threatening voice memos addressed to her and searching how to unlock lock boxes — was uncovered after he was recorded trespassing in San Mateo.
Report of the trespassing ultimately uncovered that Wang was in the San Mateo neighborhood because he was allegedly following a woman he mistakenly believed to be his victim, Wagstaffe said.
After obtaining a search warrant to Wang’s home, police uncovered a stash of unregistered, illegal weapons, silencers and ammunition, as well as a 3D printer, which can be used to create unregistered and illegal weapons. Wang also allegedly had four firearms inside his car.
He was ultimately detained at the Los Angeles International Airport after a warrant for his arrest was issued in San Mateo County, Wagstaffe said.
A date for Wang’s arraignment will be set tomorrow, and he is currently in custody on a $250,000 bond, Wagstaffe said.
