The paramedic accused of sexually assaulting had one of his two charges dropped because one of the elderly victim’s testimony was inconsistent Thursday, Sept. 21, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
Miguel Ontiveros, 35, was previously accused of two crimes, both involving sexual assaults, while working as a paramedic for American Medical Response and transporting elderly patients, according to the DA’s Office.
After Ontiveros was arrested, AMR terminated him, and the company is fully cooperating with law enforcement, a spokesperson previously said in an email.
AMR was sued in June for the crimes. The lawsuit said the company knew the paramedic was a threat to the public but continued to employ him anyway.
In an email, a spokesperson for AMR previously said the company “does not comment on ongoing or pending litigation.”
Ontiveros is also facing charges for allegedly submitting numerous fraudulent time cards with AMR, which he did not work — the theft totals around $15,000, DA’s Office.
Ontiveros remains in custody on $3 million bail. He is charged with one count of felony forcible copulation. He returns to court Oct. 17 for superior court arraignment.
