Redwood City officials are warning residents of a full-scale disaster preparedness drill involving hundreds of participants today. The drill, which lasts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., will simulate a terrorist bomb attack at the Port of Redwood City, Redwood City spokesman Malcolm Smith said. Several hundred personnel from local, state and federal agencies will participate in the drill, which will include simulated injuries, triage, collapsed building rescues, decontamination and other critical emergency activities. California's annual Golden Guardian exercise, which helps emergency personnel train for real-life scenarios, is funding the drill. The drill is not open to the public, and a news conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. with California Emergency Management Agency Secretary Matthew Bettenhausen, Smith said.
