The wrapped box of See's candy may fool someone who doesn't recognize the familiar shape with the good stuff inside, but it probably won't fool your dog. I betcha at least one or two dogs end up in emergency vet clinics this holiday season. And, just to be clear, dogs don't poke at the bottom of the chocolates to see if they have nuts or not. In fact, they may eat a bit of box and wrapping while they're at it. Cats, too, can get in their share of trouble around the holidays. In this season of giving, don't give them a reason to climb your tree. Tinsel may look shimmery and make you image snow and icicles, but imagine this: a visit to the vet, followed by a large check. If you are the ornament hanging type, make sure to pick up any stray hooks. Oh, and don't forget a gift for your companion animal this year. Remember, we have reality TV, Dr. Phil and bowl games, holiday parties and friends, gym memberships, books and hobbies. All our pets have is us!
You might see Scott and his companion, Cooper, around town. In addition to working for and representing PHS/SPCA, they also volunteer at the Magnolia Center in Burlingame.
