The Boys and Girls Club of the Coastside reports that its annual "Swing with the Legends” Golf Classic at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links on Aug. 4 was a great success. The award-winning tournament is a five-person scramble with a Major League Baseball star or sports celebrity serving as the "Team Captain.” The event provides a fantastic opportunity to meet and play with some of Major League Baseball’s alumni greats.
Among the legends that have participated are:
Hall of Famers: Brooks Robinson, Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal and Orlando "Baby Bull” Cepeda. All Stars: Will Clark, Ron Darling, Jimmy Davenport, Darrell Evans and "Blue Moon” Odom. Cy Young winners: Vida Blue, Dave Stewart and Mike McCormick
This annual fundraiser includes a party with the players at Cameron’s Restaurant, Pub & Inn the evening prior to the tournament, the tournament at Half Moon Bay Golf Links and a post tournament cocktail party at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay where the players unwind and enjoy the tournament awards presentation.
"Swing with the Legends” proceeds fund the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastside’s after school programs and Keystone Club, Smart Girls, Smart Moves, The Surf Club, The Teen Center, ELLI and The Homework Club. Overall the tournament helps ensure Coastside kids are happy, safe and learning life skills.
