Broadway is now open in both directions and California Drive is open south of Broadway after encroaching gasoline caused road closures and power outages in the area over the past week, Burlingame City Manager Lisa Goldman said.
California Drive is still closed from Broadway to Lincoln Avenue to the north as of Wednesday afternoon, Goldman said, with no definite timeline for reopening. That opening is contingent on work completion, she said.
AT&T is continuing to pump out gasoline from an underground electric vault, Goldman said, and will make another attempt to patch and seal the vault Wednesday night.
The AT&T gasoline encroachment was found while Pacific Gas and Electric was finishing up work sealing off underground electric vaults, where encroaching gasoline-infused water was discovered last week.
PG&E has now fully completed sealing its vaults and returned customers to normal power as of 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian said.

Broadway PG&E customers had previously been put on generator power after intermittent power outages all of last week, an issue that caused devastating financial losses for local businesses, John Kevranian, former president of Broadway’s Business Improvement District, said. An investigation into the power outages resulted in finding the petroleum contamination.
San Mateo County Environmental Health Services is investigating the cause of the leaked gasoline, how old it is and how it got there, Preston Merchant, San Mateo County Health communications officer, said previously.
The department is taking samples of the gasoline and sending it out for testing to determine whether the fuel is historical, he said previously. There have been no testing updates as of Wednesday afternoon.
The Broadway road closures came as El Camino Real was also shut down for a large-scale renovation project, causing traffic issues throughout the city. These road closures were necessitated by immediate removal of eucalyptus trees, which had become unsafe due to rainfall, and were not optional, Burlingame Mayor Michael Brownrigg said previously.
The city sent out an update Tuesday evening emphasizing that there continues to be no immediate threat to residents or businesses and that drinking water is not impacted by the presence of fuel in soils and groundwater in this area.
