STAGE DIRECTIONS:

The Club Fugazi is an intimate North Beach theater and nightclub featuring cocktail tables on the bottom level and seating in the balcony. The Club occupies a 1913 building, formally called Casa Coloniale Italiana John F. Fugazi, originally a community center for the Italian Colony of San Francisco. The address is 678 Green St. although the portion of Green in front of the club has been renamed Beach Blanket Babylon Boulevard. In the 1950’s and early 1960’s, Fugazi Hall was a common venue for poetry reading by members of the beat community. Notably, it makes an appearance in Allen Ginsberg’s "Howl”: "Noon in desolate Fugazi’s, listening to the crack.”

TICKETS:

$25 to $80. Wednesdays and Thursdays 8 p.m., Fridays 6:30 p.m., Saturdays 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., Sundays 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. All sections are General Admission (first come/first seated) except for Magnin, center and side-box seats. Box Office phone open Monday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (415) 421-4222. Persons under 21 not admitted to evening performances. Valid government-issued photo I.D. required. Minors welcome to Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. 5 p.m. during which no alcohol is served. No infants allowed at any show.

GETTING THERE:

highway 101 north, takeMission Street/US-101 exit toward the Golden Gate Bridge. Turn left at South Van Ness Avenue. Turn right at Broadway. Turn left at Powell Street. Take the second right onto Green Street. There are three parking lots on Green (valet), one of them directly across from the theater, two parking lots around the corner on Powell Street (valet) and two parking garages around the block on Vallejo Street.

AN ASIDE:

Jo Schuman Silver, Producer of Steve Silver’s Beach Blanket Babylon, says, "When Steve Silver created Beach Blanket Babylon he sketched every element of the show. Even though Steve is no longer with us, we have a treasure trove of his sketches that we use as a point of reference when we add a new character or musical number to the show. Through these sketches, Beach Blanket Babylon continues to carry on Steve Silver’s vision!”
