Flower show

The San Francisco Flower and Garden Show has moved from the Cow Palace, its longtime home, to the San Mateo County Event Center, 2495 S. Delaware St., San Mateo, where it runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This year’s eco-friendly theme is "Sustainable Spaces. Beautiful Places.” Highlights of the show are the Container Garden Display, Sproutopia, Bonsai displays and the 80 fascinating talks on everything from designing to the latest colors in the garden. Palo Alto’s More Imaginary Beings — Free Family Flick series continues Sunday at 3 p.m. with "The Last Unicorn.” This G-rated animated tale, based on the Peter Beagle novel, follows a unicorn (voice of Mia Farrow) that believes she’s the last of her species and is searching high and low for someone just like her. All the while, she must avoid the evil Red Bull, who’s believed to be the one who killed off the rest of her kind. Along the way, she’s disregarded and harassed, but finally finds solace in a magician (voice of Alan Arkin) and a knight named Prince Lir (voice of Jeff Bridges).

The movie takes place at the Art Center Auditorium, Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road, Palo Alto. The event is free, but space is limited, so reservations are advised. For more information call 329-2366.
