The 17-year-old student, Alex Yu, of Mills High School who admitted to brandishing a loaded weapon on Aug. 21, was convicted yesterday in juvenile court.
According to prosecuting attorney, Eddie C. Thomas Jr., Yu was sentenced to three to nine months at the Camp Glenwood program, a juvenile custody facility located in La Honda. There are several other terms to his conviction, including a 9 p.m. curfew, and search and seizure.
The now 18-year-old Yu also violated the terms of his probation, according to Thomas, who said that while on house arrest he was in possession of a BB gun. Apparently, the neighbor heard Yu unloading the gun in the yard.
Thomas said he expected the sentencing that Yu received especially considering that he violated his probation terms.
Yu's father, Kam Yu, 49, is being charged as well. He is being charged with furnishing a concealable firearm to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His case is still going through the adult court system.
