The Summit Shasta Black Bears (15-6) lost senior Casey Redosendo to an ankle injury in the second quarter, but persevered for a 73-71 non-league boys’ basketball overtime win Saturday at home over Los Altos (8-11).
Sharpshooting senior JT Jacinto drilled two 3-pointers in the extra period to lift Summit Shasta. Jacinto totaled five 3s overall to score 18 points, including seven in overtime. Senior Jacob Agramon scored a team-high 19 points for the Black Bears, while seniors Tyler Leonardo and Peter Mogannam each scored 12. Junior center Paxton Pardo de Zela scored a game-high 21 points for the Eagles, and junior Sean Hamby added 20.
Redosendo, the Black Bears’ best point-of-attack defender, according to head coach Jorge Chevez, scored eight first-half points before departing due to the injury.
Shasta has now won seven straight, and nine of its last 10.
