Quintanilla hit her 20th career varsity home run Wednesday as the Warriors (3-1 PAL Lake, 9-7 overall) hammered archrival El Camino (1-4, 2-8) for a 16-1 mercy-rule win at South City. The right-handed hitting shortstop entered the day with 18 career bombs, only to homer twice in the first inning, including a grand slam for No. 20 on her career.
The Warriors sent 15 batters to the plate in the first inning, spurred by Quintanilla’s leadoff solo blast to right. South City followed with six straight singles before batting around, with Quintanilla stepping to the plate again in the first with the bases loaded to connect for another opposite-field home run.
Junior Miley Salvatore capped the 11-run inning with an RBI double. South City went on to score four times in the second and once more in the third, with junior Sydney Semans’ sacrifice fly scoring sophomore Phoebe Oseguera for the walk-off mercy-rule victory.
