Senior right-hander Kelley Crawford powered through a jam in the seventh to save an 8-5 victory Friday for the Serra Padres (4-4 WCAL, 14-6 overall) at Archbishop Mitty-San Jose.

Crawford logged two innings of work, and breezed through the sixth before giving up back-to-back one-out singles in the seventh to Austin Mak and Elijah Kroenung. The senior bounced back to finish out the game with back-to-back strikeouts, totaling four on the day, to record the first save of his three-year varsity career.
Sophomore right-hander Rocco Zirelli earned the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits through four innings of work. The win caps a two-game series sweep of the Monarchs (3-5, 14-6), and is the third straight win for the Padres.
Serra erupted for four runs in the first, highlighted by a two-run single from Brody Crudeli. The junior added a sacrifice fly during a three-run second to finish with three RBIs. Sophomore Ayden Beal added three hits and two RBIs for the Padres, and freshman Michael Ohman tabbed a double and two RBIs.
Senior Andre Lopez-Monsivais paced Mitty with three doubles and an RBI, and Mak went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
With the win, Serra takes sole control of fifth place in the West Catholic Athletic League standings, two games back of second-place Bellarmine and St. Ignatius (tied), and one game behind fourth-place Valley Christian. The Padres open a two-game series Tuesday against Bellarmine, and closes the season May 12 and 15 with a two-game set against Valley Christian.
