After losing the season opener to Balboa last week, the Mustangs (1-1) responded with an impressive win over the Warriors (0-1) in straight sets, 25-17, 25-12, 26-16.

Carlmont 3, Mills 0

The season opener couldn’t have gone any better for the Scots (1-0) as they swept the Vikings, 25-5, 25-13, 25-12.

They came out on fire and decimated the Vikings (0-1) by 20 in the first set. Mills was over powered and had trouble finding much of a rhythm.

 In boys’ singles, Cato Li of South City defeated Joey Situ 21-9, 21-5. Rikea Liu (SSF) beat Nadia Sedegh 21-12, 21-14 in girls’ singles. Kevin Yang and Paulo Segnor (SSF) took down Joseph Umali and Terrance Lau 21-15, 21-14 in boys’ doubles. 

In girls’ doubles, Valentina Nassi and Nadine Cordova (Cap) beat Kauha Lam and Michu Chan 21-17, 21-11. Rico Morales and Jessica Huang (Cap) defeated Hensom Lau and Va Situ 21-4, 21-2.

In boys’ singles, Andre Chim (SM) defeated Alistair Lee 21-18, 17-21, 22-20. Ivy Cai (EC) defeated Cindy Yan 19-21, 21-10, 21-17 in girls’ singles.

 In boys doubles, Bruce Deng and Kevin Lo (SM) d. Carson Jeung and Tristen Cruz 21-17, 21-18. Jessica Li and Aaliyah Cabonce (EC) beat Tanvi Damle/Hannan Wang 16-21, 21-9, 21-15 in girls’ doubles. In mixed doubles, Trevor Tan and Vivian Yao (SM) beat Wilhelm Beroncal and Natlia Sapinoso 21-6, 21-11

 Jordan Sam (TN) took down Jonathan Vengosh 21-9, 21-7 in boys’ singles. In girls’ singles, Katherine Donahue (M-A) beat Nadia Lee 21-11, 21-10.

 In boys doubles, Eli Jones and Ryan Philbin (M-A) defeated Robert Gonzales and Jaden Lee 21-10, 21-11. Ashley Figueroa and Jessica Dalmacio (TN) beat Delaney Ebstein and Iris Riley 21-15, 21-18 in girls’ doubles. In mixed doubles, Miguel Sanchez and Ryan De Vaul (TN) defeated Cabe Estes and Erina Morishita 21-11, 21-15.

In boys singles, Luke Shannon (CSU) defeated Kalpa Yakupitivage 21-15, 21-13. Helen Ye (CSU) beat Grace Jau 21-5, 21-2 in girls’ singles.

 In boys doubles, Aaron Byrd and Eliot Peck (CSU) took care of business against Sean Sheffield and Issa Reynolds 21-12, 21-9. Lena Rhode and Chloe Sladewski (CSU) defeated Kelsey Kloezeman and Mikah Nelson 21-11, 21-6. In mixed doubles Cole Jernigan and Amanda Wong beat Tommy Yoon and Meg Davidson 21-11, 21-18.

 Jacob Givens (Seq) defeated Noah Castro 21-16, 21-12 in boys’ singles. Prerna Sharma (S) beat Charlene Manansala 21-7, 16-21, 21-10 in girls’ singles.

 Yujie Feng and Hongzao Ren (J) defeated Nic Lozben and Liam Crettol 18-21, 21-5, 21-18 in boys’ doubles. Xandria Estillore and Kris Vicensio (J) defeated Eloisa Duarte and Lydia Rice 21-9, 21-15 in girls’ doubles. In mixed doubles, Troy Malayan and Charlotte Castaneda (J) defeated River McCaughey Alyssa Silverhorne 21-13, 21-8.

 Baseball

Sacred Heart Prep 4, Stuart Hall 3

 The Gators secured all four of their runs in the first two innings. Senior Yianni Gardner opened up with two RBIs to get the scoring started. Sacred Heart Prep was aggressive on the base paths and stole a total of seven bases.

Gators junior Ronan Donnelly pitched a solid game and gave up only one hit in 4 1/3 innings pitched. The Knights began to mount a comeback late when senior Dylan Banks knocked in a couple of runs to cut the deficit in half. In the final frame, junior Ryan Darwin got a RBI to cut the lead to just one, but the comeback fell just short and the Gators held on for the victory.
