Menlo-Atherton 67, Terra Nova 24
Leading 25-17 at the half, the Bears (10-0 PAL Bay, 17-3 overall) went on a 25-3 third-quarter run and outscored Terra Nova 36-7 in the second half to cruise to the win at home. Senior guard Jacob Sutton hit four 3-pointers and went a perfect 5 for 5 from the free-throw line to total a game-high 19 points. Senior Jerry Williams added 15 for M-A, while senior Luca Auer netted 10. Senior guard Kai Gieraths paced Terra Nova (1-8, 8-13) with seven points. Coupled with second-place Half Moon Bay’s 50-48 loss at Burlingame, the Bears clinch no less than a co-Bay Division title. M-A can wrap up the title outright next Wednesday at Sequoia. M-A closes the regular-season in head-to-head at Half Moon Bay next Friday.
Coupled with second-place Half Moon Bay’s 50-48 loss at Burlingame, the Bears are one win away from clinching at least a share of the Bay Division title.
Burlingame 50, Half Moon Bay 48
Tied 39-all heading into the fourth quarter, Burlingame (6-4 PAL Bay, 14-7 overall) finished on a 11-9 run in the fourth quarter to upset the second-place Cougars (7-2, 13-8). The loss knocks Half Moon Bay two games back of Menlo-Atherton, clinching no less than a co-Bay Division title for the first-place Bears, who can clinch the title outright next Wednesday at Sequoia. HMB and M-A close regular-season play head-to-head next Friday on the Coastside.
Burlingame senior David Parrot scored a team-high 11 points, while junior Max Robenalt hit three 3-pointer to score 10. Sophomore center Lucca Maher fell one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. HMB senior Gio Garduno-Martin scored a game-high 23 points, while senior Owen Perez had 14.
Girls’ basketball
Aragon 65, Half Moon Bay 63
The Dons scored 20 points in both the second and third quarters as they handed the Cougars their second loss in three games.
HMB (7-2 PAL Bay, 15-5 overall) still finds itself in a virtual tie for first place after Hillsdale handed M-A its second division loss of the season.
Aragon (5-4, 10-9) led by three at halftime, 32-29 and then held off the Cougars in the second half. Daisy Pantoja Beltran, the PAL’s leading scorer at just over 20 points per game, went ballistic for the Dons, pouring in a season-high 38 points. She connected on 13 field goals, including five 3-pointers.
Her previous best this season was 31 points.
HMB’s Zoe Lemoge nearly matched Pantoja Beltran as the PAL’s second-leading scorer finished just two points off her season high, finishing with 31 points in the loss.
Hillsdale 57, Menlo-Atherton 45
The Knights handed the Bears their second loss in Bay Division play, outscoring M-A 40-20 in the second half.
M-A (8-2 PAL Bay, 17-4 overall) has a half-game lead over Half Moon Bay, but have played an extra game. The two will meet on the Coastside in the regular-season finale Feb. 13.

Lila Corkish led Hillsdale (5-5, 14-7) with 17 points. Daniella Sierra added 14 and Kiara Nitao chipped in 1o for the Knights.
M-A was led by Bella Gormsen, who finished with 12 points. Lita Fakapelea and MAry Tava each added 10 points for the Bears.
Carlmont 44, San Mateo 19
After leading 10-2 after the first period, the Scots used a 22-point second quarter to take control and cruise to the win over the Bearcats.
Carlmont (3-7 PAL Bay, 12-10 overall) led 32-6 at halftime. The Scots were led by London Greene, who scored a game-high 16 points. Sky Yee added 11 for Carlmont.
Violet MacAvoy led San Mateo (2-8, 12-9), finishing with just eight points.
Capuchino 56, Terra Nova 30
The Mustangs stayed undefeated in PAL Ocean Division play as they ran their winning streak to 13 in a row.
Capuchino (9-0 PAL Ocean, 16-2) took away any kind of drama by opening up a 17-2 lead after the first quarter and leading 29-8 at halftime. Kailee Gonzales led the way for the Mustangs, finishing with 16 points. Alana Koenig added 11.
Terra Nova (5-4, 9-9) was led by Danielle Dibble, who scored 10 points.
El Camino 39, Burlingame 35
A 17-point third quarter propelled the Colts to the Ocean Division win over the Panthers.
El Camino (4-5 PAL Ocean, 7-14 overall) was led Isabella Fernandez, who finished with 13 points. Lhian Dela Cruz was right behind with 12 points.
Burlingame (5-4, 10-10) got 13 points from Haleh Ansari and 10 points from Adeline Uhrich.
Westmoor 42, Jefferson 35
Jhacelyn Capistrano scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Rams past the Grizzlies.
Westmoor improves to 4-5 in Ocean Division play and 9-12 overall; Jefferson falls to 2-7 and 9-11.
