Carlmont 6, King’s Academy 2
The Scots (4-4 PAL Bay, 9-11 overall) put a wrinkle into PAL Bay Division race, as the King’s Academy-Sunnyvale (5-3, 12-8) dropped its second straight league game in Belmont. TKA now fall into a third-place tie with Menlo-Atherton, with Menlo School moving into second place, a half game back of first-place Burlingame.
Carlmont rallied for three runs in the first, sparked by an RBI single from Vishnu Iyer. Connor Chow followed with a sacrifice fly and Ryan Weiss swiped home on a double steal.
With TKA closing it to 3-2 in the top of the fifth on Taiyo Petersen’s RBI single, Carlmont set the table in the bottom of the frame with a Levi Wellman single and a double by Weiss. Then a wild pitch allowed Wellman to score, with an errant throw by the TKA catcher bringing home Weiss on the play. Nate Werbinski singled home a run in the sixth for the Scots to cap the day’s scoring.
Junior starting pitcher Arnav Prathipati allowed two runs on five hits through five innings to earn the win, the first of his varsity career.
Menlo-Atherton 10, Sequoia 6
With the game tied 4-all in the fourth, freshman Jake Scott capped a four-run rally with a two-run home run as Menlo-Atherton (5-3 PAL Bay, 9-11 overall) claimed the win at Sequoia (3-6, 11-8). With the win, the Bears move into a third-place tie with the King’s Academy in the PAL Bay Division standings.
M-A hit three home runs on the day. Trailing 3-1 in the second, the Bears swung ahead on a three-run homer by sophomore Lucas Ten Vaanholt. Freshman Owen Coupe added a two-run blast in the sixth. Sequoia sophomore Jackson Tetley got the Ravens on the board with a three-run home run in the second. Ten Vaanholt finished with two hits and three RBIs, while senior Ryder Kelly added two hits for the Bears, with a double and an RBI. Sequoia senior Mario Fausto had two hits with a double and two RBIs.
Senior starter Caden Lewis allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits through six innings of work to earn the win for M-A. His record improves to 5-0.
PAL Bay standings: Burlingame 7-2, Menlo School 7-3, Menlo-Atherton 5-3, King’s Academy 5-3, Carlmont 4-4, Sequoia 3-6, Hillsdale 2-7, Capuchino 2-7.

Mercy 5, Half Moon Bay 1
Bears pitchers took a no-hitter into the sixth before Paisley Harris broke it up on a two-out single to right, as Mercy-Burlingame (5-0 PAL Lake, 16-4 overall) remained unbeaten in PAL Lake Division play with the win at Half Moon Bay (3-2, 7-9). Starting pitcher Charlotte Kell fired three hitless innings to earn the win, upping her record to 7-2. Freshman Olivia Eastburn closed it out, allowing one run on two hits through four innings of work to earn the save.
Sophomore McKenna Fua got Mercy on the board in the second with a two-run single to right. Fua made it 3-0 in the third with an RBI knock, and finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Senior Andrea Martin added two hits with and RBI for the Bears, and Eastburn tabbed two hits and two runs scored. Senior Tessa Deeney logged an RBI double for the Cougars.
Burlingame 5, Terra Nova 3
Aditi Bafna had a single with two RBIs at the plate, and worked six innings in the circle to earn the win for Burlingame (2-1 PAL Ocean, 9-8 overall) at Terra Nova (1-3, 6-7). Colette Uharriat added an RBI triple for the Panthers, and freshman Alexis Mah had a single and an RBI. Bonnie Barrango went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Tigers.
South City 15, Jefferson 0
Sydney Semans went 3 for 3 with a double, a home run and four RBIs to lead the Warriors (4-1 PAL Lake, 10-8 overall) to a three-inning mercy-rule win at home over Jefferson (0-6, 0-10). Madyson Jade Quintanilla added two hits with a double and three RBIs for South City, and Kadence Yip had two hits with a double and an RBI.
Notre Dame 12, Sequoia 4
Ten different Notre Dame-Belmont players recorded hits as the Tigers (2-2 PAL Ocean, 8-10-1 overall) rolled to the win at Sequoia (1-3, 5-9). Eliana Crespin went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Claire Kimball and Skylar Loo tabbed two hits and one RBI apiece, and Nicole Stancil and Stella Hird each had a hit and two RBIs. Sequoia senior Nisha Mehta paced all batters with three hits, including a triple and an RBI.
