Hillsdale 4, Sacred Heart Cathedral 2
With Hillsdale (7-4) clinging to a 3-2 lead in the third inning, junior reliever Michael Lee emerged for the finest outing of his varsity career as the Knights topped Sacred Heart Cathedral (4-8) in the South City Spring Classic.
Lee entered play with four innings of varsity work to his credit, but fired 4 1/3 hitless innings, while allowing one hit, one walk and two hit batsmen, while striking out one to earn his first varsity win. Starting pitcher Hugo Guzman scuffled through 2 2/3 innings of work, but made up for it at the plate by going 2 for 2 with a triple and an RBI. Senior Jacob Bonner added two hits and two RBIs. Senior Chasin Deninger paced SHC with two hits and two RBIs.
Woodside 4, Terra Nova 0
Senior right-hander Carter Ball went the distance to record a four-hit shutout as the Wildcats (2-1 PAL Ocean, 8-3 overall) took the opening game of a two-game set from Terra Nova (1-2, 6-4) at Woodside.
Ball allowed four walks while striking out six, and pitched through baserunners in every inning. The Tigers made some noise in the seventh with runners at second and third with two outs, but Ball induced a groundout to second baseman Anderson Comfort to end it. Ball and Terra Nova starting pitcher Jesse Martinez battled through four scoreless frames, before Woodside broke the deadlock with a four-run fifth, getting on the board with an RBI single from Jeremiah Arias Torres.
With the win, Ball’s record improves to 4-1 with a 1.45 ERA. Martinez worked four-plus innings to take the loss, but paced the Tigers with two hits. Cruz Torres and Colby Fernandez had two hits apiece for Woodside.
Miramonte 7, El Camino 3
Miramonte junior Jonah Imberg homered to lead the Matadors (7-4) to the win over El Camino (9-3) at the South City Spring Classic. Miramonte jumped ahead with two runs in the first and added three in the second. Starting pitcher George Gilbert worked five innings to earn the win, while Imberg closed it out with two innings of work. El Camino senior Quentin Bromaghim connected for a solo home run in the seventh, the first of his varsity career. Nicholas Jang added two doubles. The loss snaps a nine-game winning streak for the Colts.
Westmoor 14, Jefferson 11

The Rams (1-3 PAL Lake, 4-4 overall) totaled just three hits, but generated 14 runs and their first PAL Lake Division win of the season. Jefferson (0-6, 1-9) issued 10 walks, two hit batsmen and committed eight errors in the field. Sophomore Nathan Ho paced Westmoor with a double and two RBIs. Junior reliever Cristian Fausto worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win, improving his record to 2-1.

Woodside 11, Carlmont 2
Senior two-way standout Hannah Walker went roaring past the career 200 strikeout plateau to lead the Wildcats (1-3 PAL Bay, 8-4 overall) to their first PAL Bay Division win of the season at Carlmont (0-3, 3-9-1). Walker went the distance in the circle, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out a career-high 13. She also connected for a two-run home run in the seventh, her first of the year.
Senior first baseman Elizabeth Severin added a two-run homer in the fifth, while senior Vanessa Carlos went 3 for 4 with a stolen base and two runs scored. Carlmont scored on an RBI single from junior Micayla Lorber in the first, and added another run in the sixth.
Menlo-Atherton 19, Lynbrook 2
Menlo-Atherton (9-2) sent 18 batters to the plate in the first inning in a three-inning mercy-rule win at home in non-league play over Lynbrook-San Jose (2-8). Nine different Bears got in the hit column, with Carey Maletis breaking out of a slump in a big way. The senior entered play scuffling through an 0-for-9 stretch over her last three games, but went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and three runs scored to boost her average to .516.
Freshman Sophieann Lin added a double and three RBIs, while senior Kylie Cox, junior Juliana Pandolfo and freshman Lavietani Taufahema totaled two hits and two RBIs apiece. Senior starting pitcher Elise Koo went 2 2/3 innings to earn the win, upping her record to 2-0.
