San Mateo 6, Alvarez 5
The Bearcats (6-2) earned two wins in tournament play at Wilcox High School, including a walk-off over Everett Alvarez (7-5). San Mateo has now won three straight.
In the Alvarez win, the Bearcats were trailing 5-4 going into the bottom of the sixth, but scored one to tie it before winning it with a single run in the seventh. Freshman Kimi Cormier went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI in the game. She was 4 for 5 on the day, with an RBI against Wilcox, improving her season average to .407.
Freshman Jana Davies was 4 for 9 on the day, including a double and an RBI in the Alvarez game. Sophomore Alice Han was 4 for 9 with four RBIs on the day, with a triple and three RBIs against Wilcox.
Sophomore pitcher Cecila Hernandez earned two wins in the circle. The sophomore allowed four runs on 11 hits in a complete-game effort against Wilcox. She returned in relief to fire 1 2/3 scoreless with three strikeouts against Alvarez. Her record improves to 3-0 with a 2.30 ERA.
Menlo-Atherton 7, Gunn 4
With the game tied 1-1 after four innings, the Bears (5-2) rallied for three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to win in non-league action at Gunn-Palo Alto (5-4). Sophomore Juliana Pandolfo was 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs, while junior Carey Maletis added two hits and two RBIs. Junior pitcher Elise Koo earned the win despite issuing seven walks, allowing just three runs on four hits. Sophomore Gracy Nava pitched the final two innings, allowing one unearned run. Gunn senior Tess Bogart paced all batters with three hits.

Sacred Heart Prep 4, San Lorenzo Valley 3
The Gators (5-6) went to extra innings before walking off with a single run in the bottom of the eighth in non-league action at home against San Lorenzo Valley (1-6). Senior Daniel Gee paced SHP with two hits, including a double and an RBI, while senior Alex Daheb added two hits and an RBI. San Lorenzo Valley senior Jaden Shelby led all hitters with three hits, including two doubles and a home run, and two RBIs. Gators pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts on the day, including eight by sophomore starter Kyle Sweeney through five innings of work. Junior reliever Nico Pollioni earned the win, firing one shutout inning of relief while striking out two.
Terra Nova 4, Cupertino 1
The Tigers (5-2-1) broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run rally in the top of the fifth to win in non-league play at Cupertino (5-5-1). Sophomore Brady Finale was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Terra Nova, while junior Evan Wilson added two hits. Junior starting pitcher Cooper Santamato earned the win, working four innings while allowing one unearned runs on two hits and five walks while striking out one. Wilson worked 2 1/3 innings of relief to bridge it to the seventh, and sophomore Jesse Martinez got the final two outs to earn the save.
South City 8, Washington 1
South City pitchers struck out 11 as the Warriors (3-3) snapped a two-game skid in non-league action at home against Washington-SF (3-5). Senior Gabriel Martin allowed just one run on one hit through five innings of work, but walked six and hit a batter while striking out eight. Jorge Macias and Josh Nabung fired one scoreless inning apiece to close it out. Sophomore Vince Bernal paced the Warriors at the plate, going 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Martin and junior Adam Keith drove in two runs apiece. Freshman Ernie Ruelas recorded the only hit for Washington.
Aragon 6, Lowell 1
The Dons (3-5) rallied for four runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back in a non-league home win against Lowell-SF (5-2). Senior reliever Dalton Kane earned the win, firing three shutout innings while allowing two hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out three. His record improves to 2-1 with a 2.47 ERA. Junior pitcher Camden Iwamiya fired 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the Cardinals. Sophomore Saxon Lucia had a double and an RBI for Aragon, while Kane had a single and an RBI.
Menlo-Atherton 7, Carmel 1
The Bears (7-4), ranked No. 25 in the CCS, rallied for a non-league home win over No. 10 Carmel (6-2). Junior starting pitcher Wes Peterson fired four shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out two, to earn the win. His record improves to 2-2 with a 0.98 ERA. Senior Tyler Rosenthal closed it out, allowing one run on two hits through three innings, to record the save. Senior Will Roberts logged a double and two RBIs for M-A, sophomore Merrick Lee had two hits with an RBI, and senior Jimmy Zaharias also drove in a run. Matt Maxon paced Carmel with two hits.
Half Moon Bay 5, Rancho San Juan 0
Junior starting pitcher Maverick Johnson fired four innings of one-hit shutout ball to earn the first win of his varsity career, and the Cougars (4-5) won it in non-league play against Rancho San Juan (4-5) on the Coastside. Senior Gio Ormando closed it out with three shutout innings, allowing three hits while striking out two, to earn the save. Senior Connor Heath paced HMB with two hits, including a triple and two RBIs. Senior Andreas Hipkins added a single and an RBI.
San Mateo 3, Northgate 2
The Bearcats (5-4) trailed 2-1 after four innings, but rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fifth to win at home in non-league play over Northgate-Walnut Creek (5-2). Jesus Olivas clubbed a home run and had two RBIs, and also earned the win on the mound. The sophomore allowed two runs on four hits through five innings of work, walking out while striking out six. Junior Tyce Copus closed it out with two shutout innings to pick up the save. Senior Julian Blees added two hits for the Bearcats. Northgate was paced by two hits from Blayne Ballard.
Palma 9, Menlo 0
The Knights (3-6) were held to three hits on their home field in non-league action against Palma (5-2). Three Chieftains pitchers combined on the shutout, with Manny Dorantes firing three hitless innings while striking out three. Renner Barnett, Liam Widner and Chuck Wynn each got in the hit column for Menlo.

The Ravens (4-4) scored once in the top of the first, but were held scoreless by three pitchers for the rest of the day in a non-league loss at Mountain View (7-2). Senior starter Jaeden Pietrofeso earned the win for the Spartans, allowing one run on five hits through four innings of work. Andrew Huang and Ben McDonald combined for three shutout innings of relief to close it out. Senior Drew Ostrander led Sequoia with two hits and an RBI.

Woodside 19, Sequoia 3
The Wildcats (6-3) rallied for 10 runs in the first inning to win a non-league rivalry matchup over Sequoia (3-5) under the lights at Burton Park. Junior Mo Overbey launched a grand slam home run in her only plate appearance for Woodside. Junior Elizabeth Severin was a perfect 4 for 4 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored, junior Marisa Calderon added two hits with a double and three RBIs, and sophomore Angelina Aranda had two hits with a double and two RBIs. Senior Jada Crockett had a double and an RBI for the Ravens.
Mills 9, Mountain View 1
Audrey Jang hit her second home run of the year and the Lady Vikings (8-1-1) cruised to their third straight victory at home against Mountain View (2-6). Jang fell a single shy of the cycle, going 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, a home run and four RBIs. Freshman Bailey Beauchemin added two doubles and three RBIs, and sophomore Jazzy Maske had two hits with a triple and three runs scored. Junior pitcher Kalia Woo went the distance to earn the win, allowing one run on five hits. Her record improves to 6-1 with a 2.37 ERA.
South City 15, Cupertino 8
Senior Maggie Bergesen recorded the second four-hit game of her varsity career, going 4 for 5 with three RBIs as the Warriors (3-3) overcame an 8-1 deficit to win at home against Cupertino (2-4). South City scored two in the bottom of the fourth then used a nine-run rally in the fifth to take the lead. Freshman Madyson Jade Quintanilla was 3 for 3 with a triple, four RBIs and four runs scored for South City, while sophomore Sydney Semans added three hits with an RBI and three runs. Sophomore pitcher Kadence Yip fire five relief innings while allowing one unearned run on one hit to earn the first win of her varsity career.
Lowell 6, Terra Nova 2
Starting pitcher Kaylee Kline went the distance for Lowell-SF (4-2), allowing two hits while striking out 16 in non-league action at Terra Nova (3-3). The Tigers got a hit and an RBI ffrom Caitlyn Lobo, while Bonnie Barrango singled and scored a run. Lowell senior Aja Saraf led all batters with two hits.
Baseball
Hillsdale 5, Woodside 4
The Fighting Knights (4-2) prevailed through some late fireworks at home in a non-league thriller against Woodside (3-4). Hillsdale won it in the 11th, but the real action came in the seventh amid a 1-1 tie. Woodside scored three times in the top of the frame, but Hillsdale answered with a 3-spot in the bottom of the seventh to send it to extras.
Woodside senior Joseph Hohl took a hard-luck no-decision on the mound, allowing one unearned run on three hits and a walk while striking out 13 through six innings of work. Senior Thomas Schultz earned the win, firing one inning of scoreless relief. Schultz also had two hits with an RBI, while senior Jake Belloni added two hits with an RBI and two runs scored. Woodside’s Hunter Taylor and Jeremiah Arias Torres paced all batters with three hits apiece.
Menlo-Atherton 19, Palo Alto 9
The Bears (5-4) banged out 27 hits and posted four multi-run innings in a non-league win at Palo Alto (1-6). Senior Jimmy Zaharias led the way with four hits, including a double, a triple and four RBIs, while Jack Molise and Jack Wilbanks added four hits apiece. Junior Ryder Kelly had three hits with two doubles and three RBIs, and junior Masataka Shudo added three hits. Junior hurler Max Brubacher earned the win, allowing five runs (one earned) on four hits through two innings of work.
Sequoia 8, Westmont 7
The Ravens (4-3) took a 8-3 lead into the seventh inning, and junior reliever Morgan Winfield escaped a four-run rally to close it out at home against Westmont (2-6-1). Junior starting pitcher Garrett Johnson earned the win, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits through four innings of work. Winfield added two hits with a double and two RBIs at the plate, while senior Vince Olinger Giani added two hits and two RBIs. Westmont junior Brayden Casillas paced all batters with three hits.
Summit Shasta 27, KIPP Collegiate 0
Benedict Del Rosario went 5 for 5 with three doubles, a triple, four RBIs and four runs scored, and the Black Bears (1-0 PSAL, 3-3 overall) opened league play with a three-inning mercy-rule win over KIPP Collegiate-San Jose (0-1, 0-2) at Gellert Park. Sophomore starting pitcher Juan Miguel Rojas collected a three-inning no-hitter, walking two while striking out six. But Summit Shasta celebrated at the plate, scoring 16 runs in the bottom of the third to secure the mercy-rule walk-off. Senior Milo Jung added four hits with a double, a triple and three RBIs for the Black Bears, while freshman Jalen Mingao totaled three hits and five RBIs.
Mt. Eden 3, San Mateo 1
The Bearcats (4-4) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third, but Mt. Eden-Hayward (3-5) responded with three runs in the fourth and held on to win it at San Mateo. Senior Ferooz Nangeyali Jr. worked three innings to earn the win for the Monarchs, while junior Javier Alfaro III fired four scoreless frames to earn the save. Junior Jayden Schafer homered for Mt. Eden. Senior Neel Sardesai paced San Mateo with two hits.
Mountain View 6, Carlmont 2
Mountain View (6-2) rode a complete-game victory from junior Brennan Dooley as the Spartans won it at Carlmont (4-5). Dooley allowed two runs (none earned) on three hits while striking out three, out-dueling Carlmont starter Jonathan Fong, who allowed three runs on six hits through five innings of work. Senior Grant Goetz paced the Scots with two hits and an RBI. Sophomore Zander Yocum totaled two hits with a double and an RBI for Mountain View.
