Aragon 5, Burlingame 1
Sophomore Taylor Workman went 2 for 2 with a pair of triples, two RBIs and two runs scored, as the Lady Dons (4-4 PAL Bay, 8-12 overall) marched to victory at Burlingame (1-7, 3-10). The Panthers jumped ahead 1-0 in the first on an RBI from junior Samantha Arce. Aragon answered with single runs in the second and third to take the lead, and added two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Workman is now batting .574, ranking third in the PAL Bay Division, while totaling nine triples on the year. Freshman Aliyah Adle had two hits and two RBIs for the Dons, and junior Elizabeth Magness added two hits. Freshman pitcher Makayla Hafoka earned the win in the circle, allowing one run on one hit through three innings. Freshman Chloe Wan fired four scoreless frames to close it out.
Mills 16, Menlo-Atherton 1
The Lady Vikings (4-1 PAL Ocean, 14-3-1 overall) racked up 15 hits in a four-inning mercy-rule win at Menlo-Atherton (3-3, 10-6). Sophomore Lucy Esquivel was 2 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs, while senior Morgan Chu led the hit parade with three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Audrey Jang, Jolie Wong and Bailey Beauchemin tallied two hits and two RBIs apiece. Junior pitcher Kalia Woo earned her second win in as many days in the circle, allowing one runs (none earned) on four hits, improving her record to 10-2 on the year.
San Mateo 9, Woodside 0
Sophomore starting pitcher Anushka Singh fired five scoreless innings, and sophomore Celia Hernandez closed it out with two innings of work as the Bearcats (5-3 PAL Bay, 12-5 overall) earned the shutout at home against Woodside (5-3, 11-7). With the win, San Mateo moved into a three-way tie for second place in the contentious PAL Bay Division, along with Woodside and Hillsdale, one game back of first-place Capuchino.
Singh allowed three hits and one hit batsman while striking out five to earn the win. The sophomore is now 8-4 on the year, and 3-1 over her last four appearances. With the game out of reach, Woodside freshman Hunter Bryant pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Bryant has yet to surrender an earned run through three appearances this season.
Woodside totaled 18 hits in the contest, with freshman Rachel Warner going yard for a solo home run, the first of her varsity career. Sophomore Alice Han led the hit parade with a perfect 4-for-4 day, including a triple, an RBI and three runs scored, while freshman Jana Davies added three hits and two RBIs.
Capuchino 10, King’s Academy 0
Senior two-way standout Lola Sierra starred both sides of the ball as the Lady Mustangs (6-2 PAL Bay, 11-5 overall) rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth in a five-inning mercy-rule victory at home against the King’s Academy (4-4, 9-6). In the circle, Sierra fired a complete-game shutout, as the southpaw allowed two hits and one walk while striking out four. At the plate, Sierra went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Senior Avery Motroni added three hits for the Mustangs, boosting her season average to .580, ranking second in the PAL Bay Division. Senior Audrey Bennette, who leads the PAL Bay with a .644 batting average, was held 0 for 2.
Hillsdale 2, Carlmont 0
Sophomore pitcher Lola Jones fired a four-hit shutout as the second-place Lady Knights (5-3 PAL Bay, 13-6-1 overall) kept pace, one game behind division-leading Capuchino, in the PAL Bay Division standings. Hillsdale is now deadlocked with Woodside and San Mateo in a three-way tie for second place with six games to go.

Jones allowed four hits and two walks, while striking out seven, upping her record to 7-4 with a 2.78 ERA. At the plate, Hillsdale was paced by freshman Giuliana Brum, who was 2 for 3 with and RBI. Sophomore Maddie Pena also had two hits with a run scored, while sophomore Ania Aleshi added two hits.
Sequoia 11, Gunn 3
Nisha Mehta enjoyed a two-home run day as the Ravens (8-7) rolled to victory in non-league play at Gunn-Palo Alto (6-11). Mehta went 4 for 5 with a triple, two home runs, four RBIs and three runs scored. The junior slugger now has four homers on the year, and is slashing .551/.593/1.163. Senior Jada Crocket added three hits with a double and an RBI for Sequoia, and earned the win in the circle while navigating three wild innings, allowing one run on one hit and five walks, while striking out two.
Baseball
Aragon 2, San Mateo 1
Xavier Ruiz and Kyle Crawford each knocked in runs in the second, and they were all Aragon starting pitcher Mason Miller would need as the Dons (4-4 PAL Ocean, 7-11 overall) held on for a crosstown win at San Mateo (4-4, 9-10).
Miller outdueled Bearcats starting pitcher Tyce Copus, as the Aragon senior allowed one run (none earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out two to earn his first win of the year. Senior Dalton Kane navigated a hit and a walk in the seventh to earn the save, his second of the year. San Mateo scored its only run in the bottom of the second when Hayato Nishiyama drove in Neel Sardesai. San Mateo freshman Wilson Morales paced all hitters with three hits.
Half Moon Bay 10, Woodside 2
The Cougars (4-4 PAL Ocean, 8-12 overall) finished off a two-game series sweep at Woodside (4-4, 8-10), scoring 10 runs in each of the wins. Jason Couto capped the series finale with three hits, including a double and an RBI. The senior has now hit in seven straight games, including a 5-for-8 clip in the series. Cole Giannini, Gio Ormando, Brady Miller and Paxton Holden added two hits apiece for HMB. Junior Cruz Torrez paced Woodside with two hits.
Junior right-hander Maverick Johnson went the distance for the Cougars, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk, while striking out one. His record improves to 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA, including a 2-1 mark over his last four appearances.
With the sweep, HMB moves into a four-way tie for third place in the PAL Ocean Division, deadlocked with Woodside, Aragon and San Mateo. Second-place Terra Nova is two games ahead of the pack, while trailing first-place Menlo by one.
Terra Nova 15, El Camino 2
Senior slugger JT Snead had a double and four RBIs, and junior Aiden James added two hits and three RBIs, as the Tigers (6-2 PAL Ocean, 13-5-1 overall) cruised to the win at home against El Camino (1-7, 5-14). Terra Nova totaled 12 hits, with junior Evan Wilson totaling two hits with a double and two RBIs, and senior Luke Ornelas adding two hits with a triple and an RBI. Sophomore right-hander Jesse Martinez fired three scoreless innings to earn the win, improving his record to 5-2. Carlos Alcala had a single and an RBI for the Colts.
Capuchino 7, Carlmont 0
Senior right-hander Declan Mendel fired his third straight shutout, a four-hitter, as the Mustangs (5-4 PAL Bay, 13-9 overall) finished off a two-game sweep at home against Carlmont (3-5, 9-11). Cap has now won three straight, and four of its last five. The Mustangs banged out 12 hits, paced by senior Andres Gomez’s 3-for-4 day with a double and an RBI. Senior Travis Ciardella added two hits with a double and two RBIs, and seniors Bryce Brooks and Will Hafer had two hits apiece. Seniors Zach Luzzo and Grant Goetz each doubled for the Scots.
