San Mateo National climbed back to the top of District 52 Little League All-Stars 11-year-old play by claiming the championship banner, its fifth all-time, and its first since 2022.

Affectionately known as the “Nats,” the team stormed the District 52 11s tournament with four straight wins, and were the only team throughout the 10s, 11s, and 12s tourneys to deny Alpine Little League a championship. The Nats knocked off Alpine 4-2 in the District 52 championship game to advance to the Section 3 tournament.

It was there the Nats entered a rare group of baseball legends embattled by a pine tar incident, as the team’s leadoff hitter and manager were ejected from a game for a trace amount of pine tar found on a game bat. The Nats went on to go 2-2 in the tournament before falling in the championship game 4-2 to host San Ramon Valley.
